Regardless, looks like insiders are now saying TCL, not Lenovo will be first out the gate with mass production of a MTK MT6589 / MTK6589 smartphone.

According to insiders, TCL is scheduled to release their MTK MT6589 / MTK6589 smartphone in January 2013, with Lenovo, ZTE, Yulong (Cool) and Huawei all on board to closely follow suit.
