Leaked images of the Samsung Galaxy S9 show it to have a variable aperture lens which can switch between f1.5 and f2.4.

One thing that mobile phones have done to compete with real cameras is give us a large aperture. This allows the camera to take in more light without the need to increase ISO or slow shutter speed.

Reportedly, the S9 will stick at f1.5 in lower light situations and bump into f2.4 in better light so that the user can keep a wider depth of field (DOF).

The lens will be hardware stabilized and according to the box will support super slow motion.

Beyond the camera, the S9 is rumored to carry a QuadHD Super AMOLED 18:9 display, 4GB RAM, and 64GB ROM storage. Additionally, the Galaxy S9 will be IP68 dustproof and waterproof, have stereo AKG-powered speakers, and will be powered by Snapdragon 845.

The S9 will be officially announced late February at MWC in Barcelona.
