Rather than saving it for last, since Little Steph was here to play with the phone, we decided to get the THL W200S battery test out of the way. While we were busy doing other stuff, Little Steph played Facebook, watched video clips and made a half hour Facebook audio phone call (screen off during call).

The battery test was a total of 17.5 hours from the time the phone was disconnected from the charger, to the time the phone was put back on the charger. During that time the WiFi was on the entire time. The SIM radios were on, but no SIMs were inserted during the test.thl_w200s_battery_life

In our previous posts about the THL W200S, we were hoping for at least 5 hours. This phone went way over, giving us nearly 6.5 hours on-screen by the time we got to 8%. We normally don’t run our batteries down below 8%, but it’s important to note the battery was still running down smoothly and slowly, and likely we could have gotten at least another half hour before Android forced shut down.

Speaking of smoothly, in contrast to many China phones and even name brand phones such as Samsung, Android showed the THL W200S battery run down extremely evenly and smoothly. For example, we didn’t notice any spots where the battery got stuck on one % point for half an hour, or where the battery lost the first 10% in 3 minutes.

Both the 1st and 2nd charge were done through the phone, not through an external charger. We mapped the 2nd charge and found the slope % wise was even and smooth all the way to 100%.

Overall we’re extremely satisfied with the general use battery performance of the MT6592 THL W200S.

Within the next day or two, we will have a more detailed review covering some of the major functions of the THL W200S.
