4000mA MT6589T Lenovo Lephone T698!
Coming soon is the Lenovo Lephone T698. Special because it has an absolutely giant battery, but maintains a < 10mm profile.
The T698 will be 9.6mm thin and have a 5.0″ 1080p LCD. The SIM card port will be on the side, as opposed to inside the backside of the phone. The SoC will be [email protected]. Camera will be 5mp front and 13mp rear.
Unfortunately there are a couple of negatives regarding this phone. Lenovo is notoriously bad about releasing phones with international frequency compatibility. This could be due to licensing issues, or it could be due to marketing issues. Another slight possibility is just plain oversight, or not caring. Regardless of what the situation is, the Lephone T698 is no exception in the lack of international compatibility department. The phone is currently reported as being TD-SCDMA + GSM, which means that only China will have 3G capabilities. We’re hoping there will be a WCDMA + GSM version made available, but it hasn’t been mentioned as of yet.
Another issue is storage capacity. The Lephone T698 is reported to have only 4GB storage. We could understand if this was a budget phone with a standard 2000mA battery, but to release a phone with a 4000mA battery, yet completely skimp on storage seems a shame.
Well, there it is for now. Normally we wouldn’t post about TD-SCDMA only phones, however the giant battery was worthy of mention. We’ll keep an eye out regarding developments with this phone. Hopefully we’ll be reporting a WCDMA + GSM version of the T698 in the near future.
