iOcean-G7-2-mediumLooks like it’s iOcean week here at Gizbeat. We just got finished specification review of MTK6592 iOcean X7S Elite and MT6582 iOcean X7 HD.

As we’ve mentioned, the trend is towards bigger and bigger, and iOcean is jumping in the mega phablet game with their G7.

The LCD on the MT6592 iOcean G7 is 6.44″ with a display resolution of 1080p. We will be making a future post about 720p vs 1080p on the ‘smaller’ screened smartphones, but for now, let’s say that this is definitely the correct resolution for such a large screened phone. Anything past 5.5″ or larger and the difference between 720p and 1080p will begin to obviously show.

This giant phone will have Gorilla Glass protection and OGS screen, as well as feature LTPS.

The camera on the iOcean G7 is 13mp wide-angle, allowing shots up to 88 degrees wide. The front camera will be 5mp.

Battery is a large 3500mA. This sounds very big until you consider the LCD is 6.44″ 1080p. It’s still plenty of juice to get you through the day even taking into account the size of the phone.

The iOcean G7 comes with 2GB RAM and is 8.9mm thin. Price in China will be $280 and is reported to release next month. Expect China shops to be selling this beast for about $350.

iOcean was generally quite well received in 2013, and the MT6592 iOcean X7 will likely be a strong contender for top mega phablet for Europeans and Asians. No word yet on WCDMA frequencies, but if judging by their recent X7 releases, it will likely be 900/2100. Let’s hope they surprise us with 850.
