Several users were severely upset and though I do understand their dismay, I didn’t share it. For me it was a non-issue and I never looked negatively upon Doogee for the misstep. I do believe their intentions were to have KitKat ready for the DG550 release, but just could not make it ready in time, possibly due to issues out of their control (eg, waiting for MediaTek to release full source code and/or base MTK KitKat builds).

As an aside, my favorite thing about KitKat is the <a title="Google’s Camera App & KitKat On The iNew V8" href="http://www.gizbeat.com/4998/googles-camera-app-kitkat-on-the-inew-v8/">excellent new bokeh features of the Google Camera for KitKat</a>.
Current and future Doogee DG550 owners stay tuned because we will be putting the announcement out as soon as KitKat hits.

awesome, I am planing to order this phone today,
did you try personally the Doogee DG550? the price is super low , and for an octa core sounds a dream, do you think maybe the processor is delicate than more expensive celphone’s?… is there a risk that DG550 present some issues after short time of using? (I mean 2 or 3 months)
Regards.

I have owned a doogee dg550 for 2 months now. You will need to know that some banking apps don’t work on this phone and since last week the back camera does not work and there now is no icon to switch to back camera use. Other issues are that when I received the phone the usb cable it came with was faulty and would not charge the phone.
