Leaks and rumors have gotten consumers tied up in the whole Lenovo Vibe X2 thrill. Finally, there has been significant information released on the model.

Processor and Memory

The Vibe X2 will be employing a MT6595M chipset, which comes with an octa-core CPU: quad ARM-Cortex A17+Quad ARM-Cortex A7, clocked at 2.0GHz+1.5GHz respectively. The accompanying GPU of the 6595M is the PowerVR6200 clocked at 450MHz. The RAM on this phone will be a sizeable 2GB, with 16GB for internal storage capacity. The phone will have Android 4.4.2 up front with the custom Vibe UI.

Screen and Camera

The Vibe X2 will be featuring a 5.0” IPS LCD screen with 1080p x 1920p resolution. The main camera will be a 13MP resolution one, and the secondary front cam will have a resolution of 5MP. Quite different to the Vibe X whose rear camera lens had a bit of a bulge/dome protrusion on the back, the X2’s lens and the entire back of the phone will be flush.

 Battery and Network

But of course, the Vibe X2 will be a 4G phone – having been recently certified by TENAA, this is now a definite spec. The network connectivity support extends to TD-SCDMA and TD-LTE. The battery of the X2 will appear to be quite small for a 1080p display phone, having only 2250mAH capacity; however, the MT6595 chipset supposedly has low power consumption going for it, which may justify the choice of battery capacity here.

The Vibe X2 acquired many spectators, waiting to see what aesthetics Lenovo will pull out with this model. Recent photos confirm the full-metal make of the phone’s body. Additionally a gradient effect around the phone’s flat edges can be seen from a leaked photo on the left. Others also show a darker orange version, and the X2 packaging indicates that a blue-based version is also possible.

When compared to the previous Vibe X, the X2 is more angular and straight-edged; but the phone follows after the X on thickness, or thinness rather, keeping it at 7.24mm.

Furthermore, as the unique gradient-effect, incorporated in the X2 is something quite exquisite in the mobile world, Lenovo will be appropriately naming the phone, Rainbow.

 CU and TO

The specs above are all applicable to the Lenovo Vibe X2-CU version, aka the standard version. The X2 will immediately have a lower end version defined, and is designated as the X2-TO. The TO will be employing a dual core Atom Intel SoC as opposed to an octa core MTK; all other specs remain the same.

Just as the Vibe X was announced in IFA 2013 in Berlin, the X2 will correspondingly be announced in IFA 2014 in a couple of days.
