I recently reviewed the very good Elephone P8000. It lacked a couple of components that you’d expect at the price they’re selling it, but otherwise was one of the better phones I’ve reviewed over the years. It looks great, has great battery life and solid build, along with a stable Android 5.1.

Elephone, well known for putting out one phone after another, already has the next set planned — Elephone Trunk, Elephone M1, and Elephone M2. When I see a mobile dubbed Elephone Trunk, I lower and shake my inner mind in disbelief, but there it is.

Elephone M2 specs specifications

  • SoC: MT6753
  • CPU: 8-core 64-bit [email protected]
  • GPU: Mali-T720
  • Display: IPS OGS 5.5″@1080P LG
  • Rear camera: 13MP Sony IMX214
  • Front camera: 5MP
  • RAM: 3GB
  • ROM storage: 32GB
  • Battery: 2600mAh built-in
  • OS: Android 5.1
  • Dual-SIM: Yes
  • Touch ID: Yes
  • TF SD expandable: Yes
  • 2G: GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz
  • 3G: WCDMA 850/900/2100MHz
  • 4G: FDD-LTE 800/900/1800/2100/2600MHz

Specwise, the Elephone M2 has a big 3GB RAM and uncommonly big 32GB storage. This is well beyond what the average user requires and will satisfy all power users as well.

We also see the very good Sony IMX214 is included. This is one of the better cameras included in phones these days, coming in phones such as the OnePlus One. This camera produces generally sharp images good enough for printing medium-sized prints.

The very capable MT6753 SoC is powering the Elephone M2, albeit with the CPU cores clocked at 1.3GHz. This is beyond what’s required to run Android very smoothly.

The M2 also comes from the factory with Android 5.1, so you can be sure you have the latest Android build.

As mentioned, I was impressed with the Elephone P8000, as have been several other owners. This was the first Elephone I’ve been able to recommend in a long time, and if they keep up the same standards with M1, M2 and Trunk, these will be phones I can recommend. Catch them now while they’re on presale special.
